- The rising action is leading to the climax. The narrator keeps on peaking in the old mans room night after night after night. " And every night at midnight, I opened his door. I eased it open very gently. When I had made an opening large enough for my head, I put in a lantern. The lantern was closed so that no light showed. Then I put my head in the room."
- That old mans eye! I..I..I just can't stand it any more.
- No! Please! I can't breath!
- The Climax is the turning point in a story. "With a loud, I throw open the lantern and leaped into the room. He screamed once- once only. I dragged him to the floor and puled the heavy bed over him. Then I smiled. The deed was almost done. But for many minutes the heart beat on with muffled sound. This though. did not bother me. It would not be heard through the wall.
- The falling action is starting to warp up the story. " Then I took up there planks from the floor and put the pieces in the space underneath. Then I replaced the planks so well that no human eye could have found anything wrong.
- Yes! no one will ever no were I hid the body!
