Great Odysseus allow us to stop at this island to rest and eat

Okay, just don't eat the cattle they belong to Helios

After the crew made it past the sirens they found Scylla and Charybdis right where Circe said they would be. Here Odysseus had to make the hardest decision of his life, he had to either risk losing all of his crew to Charybdis or just six of his men to Scylla. He chose Scylla without telling his men so once they reached Scylla she ate six of his men.

After they made it past Scylla and Charybdis they were passing Helios' island and the crew asked if they could stop there for rest and food. Odysseus tried to talk them out of it but eventually he agreed. But before the crew could go ashore Odysseus made them swear that they would not eat the cattle because they belong to Helios, and they agreed.

On Helios' island everything was fine until the crew's food ran out. They eventually could not resist the temptation of eating the cattle. So when Odysseus fell asleep the crew killed the cattle and feasted on it, even though they were warned not to by Circe, Tiresias, and Odysseus warned them not to. So after they ate the cattle Helios told the gods of this and Zeus threatened to punish Odysseus' crew for what they have done.
