- Francine and her family have a house out in Tennessee. Francine lives with her papa, mother (who is expecting a baby), and older brother named John.
- Francine's father came to their family one day and explained that they are going to sell their farm and move to the city.
- Although moving meant saying goodbye to all of their close friends and neighbors, Francine's family was moving because there were better job opportunities for her dad.
- Francine began to notice that a lot of her neighbors were moving away as well. She started to become more educated on what was going on in the world around her.
- When Francine's family finally settled in to the city, Francine's father got a job at a factory. During this time, a lot of people were looking for jobs, and unfortunately, a lot of people were unable to get jobs.
- Now, Francine and her family live in the city and the second world war was starting to take action. That is when the Great Depression came to its final days, and Francine and her family lived happily ever after.
