- Magellan was born in Sabrosa, Portugal in the 1480's. Magellan was born in a very wealthy family.
- Magellan was taught about map making andnavigating skills while he was very young. From avery young age Magellan wanted to discoversomething new in the world.
- I wonder what it will be like if I found something in the world and I became famous?
- In September 1519, Magellan set sail fromSpain with five ships. His hope was to find aWestern route to the Spice islands
- He and his crew were then at the "Mar Pacifico," often known as the "peaceful sea." The continued their voyage and they noticed that they were closer than anyone ever has to the Spice Islands
- Magellan and his crew were almost at the end of their voyage. While they were sailing the Cebu asked to be their partners and fight their neighbours. In the fight Magellan was shot with a poison arrow.

- Despite Magellan's death, the crew continued the voyage, and one of the five ships sent out to circle the globe returned after becoming the first to do it. The Strait of Magellan was named after the strait they sailed through.
