- After a long time, and many wives... Henry XIII, had a son, Edward VI, with Jane Seymour, his third wife. Edward was born on October 12, 1537.
- God should be worshipped in a plain and simple manner!
- Henry VIII, his father, had 2 older daughters, Mary and Elizabeth, but he didin't want women as heirs to the throne, so when he died, the little Edward, with only 9 years old, was in charge of the throne of England.
- Jane, you will be the heir to the throne when i die. I choose you, cousin.
- Edward joined Protestantism, and he made some changes in the church when he became king.
- King Edward VI, is dead.
- As a protestant, he though that the Catholic Church made people worship God in the wrong way. Edward said that God should be worshipped in a plain and simple way, so as he was the head of the Church, he alter some things. For exaple, the bible became in Enlish, and not in Latin anymore.
- Close to his dead, Edward named his 15-years-old cousin, Lady Jane Grey, as next in line to the throne, because Edward had no children. She later became known as the 'Nine days queen', because as the nickname says, Jane had ruled for only nine days.
- Edward had always been a sickly child and conctantly in need of a doctor's attention, and by the age of 15, he was dying of a lung disease called Tuberculosis. His hear and nails fell out and his fingers and toes lose and drop away at the joints. Edward died on July 6, 1553. After Lady Jane Grey had ruled for nine days, his older half-sister, Mary, became the new Queen of England.
