- Hey John, let's go for a hike around the lake.
- Oh no, Paul! Someone help, help!
- John, help me! The current is pulling me out to sea!
- John! John! If you can hear me, call out for help!
- John and Paul are best friends. It was a calm, sunny day so they decided to go down by the lake. They were hiking along the water's edge and came across a break. There was no bridge, and the gap was too big to jump across.
- Help! Help! Help!
- A rope was hanging over the gap and the boys decided to swing across even though the rope looked frayed and weak. Paul went first but suddenly, the rope broke and Paul was being washed out to sea.
- I was so worried that I might never be found!
- Paul, I'm so happy you're okay. That was so scary!
- John had his cell phone and called for help. Boats were sent out to look for Paul. The captain of the rescue boat shouting loudly over the water hoping that Paul would hear him.
- Best friends forever. Thank goodness we are safe.
- Luckily, Paul was able to swim to a deserted island in the middle of the water. He was scared, sad and tired. He didn't lose hope and shouted over and over for help.
- Not long after, the captain on the boat spotted Paul on the island and drove the boat quickly to rescue him. The boys were relieved to be together and safe.
- The boys were happy to be home. They had an exciting and scary adventure that had a happy ending thanks to the resourceful captain, John who called for help right away and Paul who didn't give up hope.
