- All of a sudden life was terrible. Women were forced to cover their hair, keep their heads down, not wear any makeup, not talk loudly in public.

- The back of the bus became these ladies regular spot. Men shunned them for not acting "lady-like"
- They kept their heads down patiently waiting for their stop. They could not wait to take these veils and dresses off and put on their real clothes.
- These women lost their right to express themselves while men were able to do almost anyhting. If they were caught wearing makeup in public, they would be arrested. They were waiting for the day they would finally be able to express themselves again.
