  • Believe in your inner magic
  • A project by: Roberta Cosar Material Sourced from: Coursera Learning How to Learn by Barbara Oakley and Terry Sejnowski
  • Hi, my name is Eleanor and I will guide you on this learning journey
  • Learning how to learn
  • Hello Elenor, what will you teach us today?
  • - Memory- Chunking- Metaphor, history and visualization in learning-Procastination
  • Hi Edward, today I will show them these topics
  • Memory
  • Working memory: Immediately and consciously processing of the mind.
  • Long term memory: It is similar to warehouse storage, it is distributed over a large area and is stored in different regions of the brain.
  • For memories to go from short-term to long-term memory, it is necessary to repeat several times in order to learn.
  • Procastination
  • When something that causes you discomfort or something that you do not like to do, you turn your attention away.
  • You may be activating the areas of your brain that are associated with pain.
  • Chunking
  • Chunking is the mental process that joins pieces of information giving meaning.
  • Just memorizing without understanding does not help you understand what is happening, nor does the concept fit with others you are learning.
  • Focused practice and repetition help create fragments. Get a main idea or concept - small snippets go big.
  • Metaphor, history and visualization in learning
  • Metaphors are important to give an understanding of the central idea behind the process or concept you are trying to understand.
  • Metaphors, analogies or stories can be helpful in getting people out of Einstellung, blocking themselves by thinking about a problem incorrectly. It allows you to easily retain what you are trying to learn. They also help ideas to settle in your mind, they connect to neural structures that are there.
  • It is better to create metaphors to remember and understand concepts. It will be useful the more visual they are.
  • Pomodoro Technique Helps You Stay Focused
  • - Set the clock for 25 minutes, turn off all interruptions, and focus.- Give yourself a small reward when you are done.- Focus on the process, not the product.- Plan and take notes in your journal, what works and what doesn't
