  • Hey! There is so much we can learn out here in the country.
  • He's right! There is much to learn. Come on!
  • The 2 children observe a plant cell underneath a microscope. They notice something called "Turgor Pressure". Turgor Pressure is the force exerted by stored water in the vacuole against the cell wall.
  • Look at this! I brought my microscope.
  • Cool! I think I notice Turgor Pressure!
  • Rob notices a sunflower patch. He realizes that there is a lot more to sunflowers that meets-the-eye. Rob is witnessing phototropism. This is when a plant responds to external stimuli (tropism), and in this case, phototropism is when the plant responds to light (it turns towards the sun).
  • Look at that patch of sunflowers! I think I notice tropism.
  • Phototropism to be exact. Come on! There is still a lot more to see!
  • There are also many other types of tropisms. They include hydrotropism (response to water), geotropism (response to gravity), and thigmotropism (response to touch).
  • And just to point out, it seems that that tree is wilting, or becoming limp due to less water.
  • This is the green house. This is where young plants are planted and then they grow! The plants start out as seedlings, and grow into tall bushes and trees. This process is known as germination or sprouting. Water is necessary for the plants. This is because the water creates Turgor Pressure in the cells, which helps the plant make shoots.
  • That's right! Let me tell you a little bit about photosynthesis.
  • We are in a corn farm. We can learn a lot about photosynthesis. What exactly is photosynthesis?
  • Photosynthesis is the process in which plants create food (glucose) for themselves. They do this through trapping carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight (radiant energy). Glucose is a chemical energy
