  • Nurse Amy - I am so sorry Ian that you are in so much pain and the doctors are not listening to you, please advocate for yourself when the doctor comes in and I will support you.
  • Good morning, Ian How are you today? Ian, I'm going to go ahead and take your vital signs. Are you currently in any pain? On a scale from 1-10, can you rate your pain for me, please?
  • Good morning. I am in a lot of pain right now...about an 8 out of 10.
  • Good morning!
  • As a teenager you may feel that you can't advocate for yourself and often your parents are the ones that have to speak up. However, doctors worry that there are alternative motives when requesting stronger pain medications.
  • Ian, you currently have acetaminophen prescribed for your pain, so I'm going to check with your physician to see if he can prescribe something stronger for you. 
  • Please help, Ian. He has been in agony all night long. 
  • Sometimes it takes a special doctor that will believe in you and will go the extra mile to figure out what is happening.
  • Thank you so much, Nurse Amy! I really appreciate you speaking to Dr. Montane on my behalf!
  • Ian, I spoke with Dr. Montane and she has prescribed a stronger medication for your pain. I am going to give you this medicine now and I will check back in with you in a little while, to reassess your pain. 
  • It's important that doctors consult with other doctors when they can not figure out the root problem.
  • Well I brought in another doctor to consult on your case and we are going to do some more testing.

  • Good news Ian, this is all caused by a virus and will improve slowly. Your body will need to recover slowly and you will need a lot of rest. We will follow you closely.
