- The characters in the story: Ulrich Von Gradwitz is a wealthy Landlord who Was Dynamic, flat and A protagonist. George Znaeym was a poor forest game hunter who was Dynamic, flat and also a protagonist.
- Point of View
- Both men spoke with bitterness of possible defeat before them, for each knew that it might be long before his me would seek him out or find him.
- Man vs. Man - There is hatred between the two men because of a problem that happened generations ago. The two men planned to hunt each other down.
- Theme
- In the pain and languor that Ulrich himself was feeling the old fierce hatred seemed to be dying down.
- The climax of the story is when Georg and Ulrich become trapped under a tree during a storm. This is the climax because it is where we most fear the protagonists' safety.
- A fierce shriek of the storm had been answered by a splitting crash over their heads, and ere they could leap aside a mass of beech tree had thundered down on them.
- This story was written in Third Person Omniscient. I can see both sides of the story. I can know Georg feelings and Ulrich feelings the way it was written. So that’s how I can understand what's going on by there point of view.
- One theme is, enemies can unite in the face of death.Being stuck under the trunk, close to death, made them realize that their reasons for feuding are ignorant. They plan to help each other when their men arrive.
