  • I am depressed, what do I need to do?
  • I have recently been feeling very sad and don't want to participate in any sports anymore. I am also very restless at night and won't eat. Is there anything you suggest I do?
  • Well...you can always tell me what happened at school and I suggest that you try to eat more and speak to your teachers how you feel.
  • They are some antidepressants that will help you will your feelings, take 2 every night and come back for more when you need.
  • Thank you
  • If you are feeling down or depressed, the first thing you should do is to talk to someone you trust. Reach out to relatives and friends who can supply you with positive feedback and a fresh viewpoint. Even if you feel like withdrawing, calling a friend or going out to mingle can help to lift your spirits and improve your attitude.
  • According to Health Direct, after reaching out to people that you trust, you could go to a psychologist where you can talk freely. They can help you get rid of those dark feelings. Psychotherapy is a collection of treatments aimed at assisting people in altering their thought patterns and improving their coping abilities.
  • You could also take antidepressants which can relieve symptoms. There are multiple types of antidepressants; Citalopram, Escitalopram, Fluoxetine, Fluvoxamine, Paroxetine, and Sertraline just to name a few. You can only get them prescribed from your doctors.
  • Stay active. It momentarily increases endorphins, which are feel-good hormones. It could also help those with depression in the long run. Regular exercise appears to help the brain remodel itself in beneficial ways.
  • Eat nutritious meals. You should keep an eye on your diet. If your depression causes you to overeat, controlling your meals will help you feel better. Although there is no conclusive proof, foods high in omega-3 fatty acids (such as salmon and tuna) and folic acid (such as spinach and avocado) have been shown to assist with depression.
  • Make an effort to try something new. Play a new sport. Take an old book to a park bench and read it. Donate your time to a soup kitchen. Enrol in a language course. There are chemical changes in the brain when we challenge ourselves to try something new. Trying something new modifies the levels of dopamine, which is linked to pleasure, happiness, and learning.
