- The renowned hunter Rainsford is on a yacht headed to the amazon to hunt jaguars but on the journey there they see an island with a reputation as a ship trap however later on in the night Rainford hears a gunshot and stands on the railing to get a better look where he falls of and get strangled on the island
- Climax
- Zaroff reveals to Rainsford that he hunts humans and he wants Rainsford to hunt with him, so Rainford must choose to either hunt other humans or to be hunted by Zaroff instead. Rainsford chooses to be hunted.
- Falling Action
- Rainsford who has been given a hunting knife (ironically), some cloths, and food must now flee throughout the island and try to survive for three days. during these three days he, runs, hides, and sets traps in order to survive. These traps end up wounding Zaroff, killing Zaroff's employee Ivan, and killing one of Zaroff's large black hunting hounds as well.
- Resolution
- That really was the best sleep of my life!
- Zaroff enters his room after the hunt and is shocked to fin Rainford the behind the curtain who he thought dies after jumping off a cliff and into the water.
- Zaroff ask Rainford how he got in here to which Rainsford responded he swam, Zaroff declares Rainford the winner however Rainford replies " I am still a Beast at bay," "Get ready, General" and begin a final fight to the death to which General Zaroff says " One of us is to furnish a repast to the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed."
- Rainford states that he just got the best sleep of his life implying that he won the fight and General Zaroff is no more.
