- in the 1600's there were so many whales in cape cod that you could walk on the backs of them but now they are considered an endangered species.
- the numbers of whales has drastically reduced due to 200 years of whaling and ,were killed for their whale meet , oil and bone.

- even though whaling is illegal there still arent as many whales in the ocean today. Most people do think that whale conservationist only save whales because they are pretty animals but that isnt the case
- a big reason why we should help preserve whales is because whale poop and rotting carcasses. Whale poop realses nutrients from the depths of the ocean to the surface which is beneficial to the entire ecosystem. Whale carcasses are beneficial due to the fact it provides food to a bunch of species on land.
- Ulitmately the concept of perserving whales is not only for the fact that they are pretty animals but also for the fact that they help the ecosystem in a lot of ways people dont know about.
