- English has been diffused all over the world due to England colonial rule, 17th century English was diffused to North America, mid 18th century England diffused English to South Asia, late 18th early 19th century English was diffused to South Pacific, and during the 19th century, it was diffused to Eastern and Southern Africa. America also played a part of the diffusion of English in the 20th Century and they diffused it to the Philippines when they colonized them. This was all Hierarchical Diffusion.
- The Romance Branch originates from the Roman Empire. The Romance branch diffused due to hierarchical diffusion since the Roman invaded countries and forced the language which would make it hierarchical.
- "..because the people of England migrated with their language when they establish colonies over the course of four centuries" Over these four centuries they enforced English on the natives and suppressed them of speaking their native languages, this would be the higher power enforcing the lower power to speak English which would be an example of Hierarchical Diffusion.
- The example I gave explains Hierarchical diffusion due to the fact that the colonial rule England had over its colonies they were enforcing English onto them. Hierarchical means that it comes from a person of power, in this case, it would be England who would be in power while the colonies would be the ones who aren't and they would be forced to assimilate to the European culture that the English pushed onto them.
