- In July 19-20 1848 the first women's rights convention was held in New York. This was the start to a new chapter in history which was called the Women's Suffrage Movement. This convention focus on the social, civil, and religious rights of a woman. This resulted in 68 women and 32 men signing a Declaration of Sentiments; there were 12 resolutions.

- In 1866, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony who are play two significant roles in history, established the American Equal Rights Association. It was an association that advocated for "universal suffrage" which had the purpose of gaining suffrage for all who did not have the privilege to vote. This is such as: women, black women/men.

- In 1876, Susan B. Anthony and Matilda Joslyn Gage had presented the declaration of rights for women by interrupting the U.S. Centennial program at Independence Hall. Their declaration of rights stated that regardless of gender we, humanity, are the same. We are equal; therefore we should be treated equally.
