  • Look! It's Sir Edwards-Pritchard's grave!
  • Uh. Who?
  • The anthropology theory guy from class!
  • AHHHHHH!
  • It's nice to be remembered after all this time
  • NOPE!
  • S-Sir...Sir Edwards-Pritchard?
  • At your service, my dear!
  • But... you died in 1973
  • Yes, I did. But I've been able to watch the world grow to what it is today! As a ghost!
  • So, does that mean you could answer some questions? I have a report on you that's due tonight!
  • Of course! I'm just glad they're still talking about me.
  • Could you just tell me about your life? Starting at the beginning?
  • What would you like to know?
  • Ah yes. The beginning...
  • I was born in Crowborough, Sussex England in 1902. My parents were fairly well off, my father was a clergyman.
  • I even studied under Malinowski in London!
  • I studied modern history at the University of Oxford and took an interest in anthropology which I studied at the London School of Economics....
  • In 1926 I went to Africa to carry out my own field research with the Zande and Nuer peoples. Sailing was never something I was a fan of though....
  • While I was in Africa, I realized that the Zande, had developed their own belief system that included magic. And they used this magic as logic!
  • It was truly groundbreaking! Everyone in Europe just assumed that they were thoughtless savages, and that their lack of logic made them less developed. But my mentor was right! They already had logic!
  • They're really rational!
  • I taught in Cairo, London and Oxford for a while but then found myself in the service in Cyrenaica.... it was a dark time
  • In 1946 I returned to Oxford to take over for Radcliffe-Brown as the Chairman of Social Anthropology.
  • My role at Oxford came with an All Souls College fellowship, and I stayed there at Oxford until I retired in 1970.....
  • You were only retired for three years before you died?!
  • That was so rude..... I can't believe I said that.....
  • Yes. Three years, but I loved my work.
  • Thank you so much for talking to me!
  • Anytime! But....
  • No need to worry about him. He's a poli-sci major. Everything scares him!
  • ...what about your friend? I think I scared him.
  • THE END
