- The digestive process begins with ingestion. When we eat, food enters the mouth, where it is chewed and mixed with saliva. The food travels down the esophagus into the stomach. The stomach is shown as a muscular, bag-like organ with food inside being churned and mixed with digestive juices. In the stomach, food is broken down by stomach acids and enzymes. This process is called digestion, turning the food into a semi-liquid form called chyme.A section of the small intestine, showing tiny finger-like projections called villi absorbing nutrients into the bloodstream. Nutrients from the digested food are absorbed in the small intestine, while waste moves to the large intestine, eventually being excreted from the body.So there are basically 5 steps to digestion... which are...-?
