  • Buddhist teachings are found in the holy book, the Tripitaka or also called the Sutras. In these books the Buddha issued The Four Noble Truths:1.Dukkha-All life is suffering2.Samudaya-There is a cause for suffering.3.Nirodha-There is a end to suffering.4.Magga-In order to end suffering you most follow The Eightfold Path.
  • There is a lot of pain and suffering out there.
  • Siddharth Gautama was born in 563 BCE, a prince in the Kshatriya caste. Siddhartha grew up in a life of wealth and privilege.

  • At age 29, Siddartha Ventured outside of the palace and discovered human suffering. He became upset and wondered about the point of life. He then left his palace to live the life of a religious ascetic.
  • The Eightfold Path:The Eightfold path is the path to enlightenment, and the way to end suffering. It is also called the Middle Path between desire and sel-denial. It incorporates the three practices.-Wisdom: The right understanding of the 4 Noble Truths)-Virtues: Right speech, no lying criticism, gossip or harsh language, good conduct by following the 5 precepts,And right livelihood.-Concentration: Right effort, good thoughts, conquer evil ones, right mindfulness, be aware of the body, mind, feelings, and Right concentration, to meditation to achieve higher consciousness.
  • After meditating, Siddhartha found enlightenment and the enlightenment became the first principle of Buddhism, and Sidartha became the “enlightened one.”

  •  THE THREE TRAININGS: The Buddha also taught the Eightfold Path, which is divided into three mindful practices. 1.Virtue (good conduct, morality)2.Concentration (meditation, mental development)Developing one’s mind is the path to wisdom.3. Wisdom (discern-ment, enlightenment) Wisdom will emerge if your mind is clear and pure.
