- Early Years:Spain life as a Soldier 1506-1521
- In 1506 St.Ignatius had fulfilled his dream of becoming a soldier. Then in 1509 he entered the Military and fought for 12 years without ever being seriously injured. He went on to do many good deeds and fight in many winning battles. From this St.Ignatius had earned the reputation as a brave and courageous soldier. He loved being a soldier and wore his sword and breastplate proudly.
- Middle Years:The battle of Pamplona Injury and recoveryCastle of Loyola1521-1522
- Ignatius' life as a soldier ended abruptly in 1521 when he was hit by a cannonball and suffered a bad injury. This changed the course of his life. During his long recovery resting in bed Ignatius began reading religious books and reflected on his life and spirit. He noticed after reading and thinking of saints and Christ he was at peace. This experience was the beginning of his conversion into becoming a Saint.
- Later Years:Paris FranceSociety of Jesus1533-1540
- Ignatius kept notes of his experiences in prayer and this helped him compose the spiritual exercises. While he was studying in Paris, Ignatius had a circle of friends gather around him to pray, meditate and they decided they wanted to work together to serve God and help others. This is how the Society of Jesus was formed in 1534 . The society of Jesus went on to open many schools colleges and missionaries.They received official recognition as a religious order in 1540 by the Pope.
