  • the nurse on the right is none other than Florence Nightingale (also known as the lady with the lamp) an English nurse. born in 1820 to a wealthy family, Florence always wanted to be a nurse but back then nurses were frowned upon but Florence decided to become one anyways

  • they rode on horseback to William Farr's lab
  • it took them a couple of hours to figure out what could be causing all these deaths
  • so, after this talk, Florence asked all of the nurses and all the patients that were somewhat well to clean everything from head to toe. after that, the death rate reduced to 1/3, and she went on to win awards for her work and write books about nursing. she died on August 13th, 1910.the end
