  • People respond in may ways towards crimes against humanity. To begin, first inform yourself on previous responses and truly understand it. Then take note of the pros and cons of the intents and learn from this. In the holocaust, for example, although it took a while, some non-Jews helped hide and protect Jews from the Nazis.
  • This event parallels to the holocaust as there is suffering going on such as the destruction of buildings and the deaths of a Muslim ethnic group. Both the Holocaust and what is happening in Myanmar are genocides.
  • This event is still happening, more than 9,000 people have been killed, and many villages have been destroyed. More than 700k refugees have fled abroad to escape the ruckus.
  • Legacy: what happened to the survivors/perpetrators afterward?
  • 1. The military authorities closed at least five independent news publications and revoked the licenses of eight media outlets.2. More than 6,000 people were killed in the first month of the onslaught. 3. Military courts sentenced dozens of people, including several children, to death after unfair trials. Many were tried in their absence.4. They estimated that 36,000 people were thrown into fires. 5. Myanmar is the poorest country in South East Asia.
