You're going to be just fine thanks to what we call the 'Second Line of Defense'.
What the heck is that??
Well, the Second Line of Defense consist of several main factors. Let's talk about the 5 white blood cells first.
The Neutrophils is the first to respond to any bacteria, so take you for example, the Neutrophils was the first to respond to any bacteria you might have gotten from that paper cut.
Next is the Eosinophils which is known for their role in allergy symptoms, in your case it's just in case your allergic to paper.
The next cell is Basophils which plays a part in asthma. Lymphocytes, in your case, are fighting any infections by producing antibodies for your paper cut. Last but definitely not least is the monocytes which clean up the dead cells, so you don't have nasty dead cells everywhere.
Let's move on from cells. Now let's talk about the inflammatory response. It occurs when the tissues are injured by all sorts of things. It's basically the immune systems response to injury or illness. It releases chemicals called histamines which do all sorts of things such as raise your temperature
omg now that I think about it, I feel my temperature starting to rise. Am I going to be sick?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Haha...that's not exactly how it works. You're not going to get sick from a paper cut. The last quick fact you should know is the main goal of the white blood cells when encountering germs begins with the cell-mediated immunity
You know I'm actually feeling better thanks to the white blood cells, my inflammatory response and the cell-mediated immunity!!!
