- 15 year-old Will's brother, Shawn, is shot by someone in the Dark Suns gang. Will, his mother, and Shawn's girlfriend mourn at the scene.
- The rules say that Will must now seek revenge and kill the person who killed his brother, so he now knows what he has to do.
- Will finds a gun in Shawn's drawer, and leaves to go kill Riggs, who Will thinks killed Shawn.
- Gun strapped in his waistband, Will enters the elevator to travel down and kill Riggs.
- On the next two floors, Will imagines two people stepping aboard the elevator: Buck, who is one of Will's brothers that also died in gang violence, and Dani, who was one of Will's childhood friends and died at 8 years old due to stray gunfire.
- Three more people enter the elevator on the consecutive floors: Will's uncle Mark, his father (whom he doesn't remember), and the guy who Shawn killed that ended up getting Shawn killed in revenge, named Frick. Will never met these people, yet feels a strong connection to them.
- On the last floor, Shawn appears, and gives Will a decision: To follow the rules, or to make his own way and stop the violence.
