- The giant had escaped through the forest to the Valley of No Return, where his pursuers dared not enter. But sir pellinor was blind with courage, he took that dark road, where there he was attacked by two snakes, then by a bear and by an unknown beast.

- After passing through the gate to the other world, Sir Pellinor found himself in a shadowy region. the dogs which followed them were no longer there, all the animals moved away from their path and for the first time he felt fear. Along the way, SIr manages to witness a miserable looking cabin
