  • Maybe everything is made up of indivisible particles!
  • HAHAHAHAHAHAH!
  • Democritus, c. 400 B.C.E
  • You're stupid... HAHAHAH. Everything is made from Earth, Wind Water and Fire.
  • All matter must be made of atoms! Therefore atoms of the same element MUST be the same in size mass and in other properties. Every different element must have its own atom!
  • John Dalton, 1808
  • JJ Thomson, 1897
  • Just like this plum pudding! the negatively charged yogurt has positively charged fruit in it to balance the electrical charge!
  • I discovered the electron! But this means that if every atoms contains negatively charged particles there must be positively charged particles within it to balance the electrical charge.
  • If some particles pass through but others bounce back then Thompson's plum pudding model must be wrong! Instead it must be like a netting, with a dense nucleus in the middle with electrons orbiting. That means the positively charged particles must be protons!
  • Ernest Rutherford, 1910

  • Mathematically speaking, if Rutherford's model is correct, electrons must orbit the nucleus like planets orbit a star. And this explains chemical reactions! The way electrons are arranged impacts the chemical bonds it will create!
  • Niels Bohr, 1913
  • Maths tells me that Bohr is correct, that electrons orbit the dense nucleus! But my own equations tell me that they do not move in lines, but rather 'clouds' in which their exact location is uncertain. But we know for certain that the electrons are located somewhere within these clouds!
  • Erwin Schrödinger, 1926
