3/11/2020 - Covid-19 is announced as a global pandemic and New YorkCity schools will have an extra weekof Spring Break with one week of online school following.
An extra week of break? This day could not get any better. Im gonna play so much Fortnite
I know right? This is so sick!

At this point in time, I was ecstatic for the long break, but I kinda sucked I had to stay inside all day. I showed no concern for the pandemic because I reminded daily the pandemic was going to be over soon and it was not that bad.
The break was very relaxing. I played a concerning amount of video games and ignored my parents telling me to stop. I still, showed no attention towards other things besides school and fortnite.
Fortnite
Get off the game and come to dinner!
Late May 2020. I was scrolling on Tik tok like any kid during quarantine. And I stumbled upon a Fitness influencer's tik tok page. I was intrigued.
This dinner, about two weeks through my extended spring break, was when the true nature of the severity of this pandemic was brought to my attention. I also thought I would be stuck inside my house for longer than three weeks.
Thats horrible I did not know this was happening.
This pandemic is getting very serious, James. Thousands are getting sick and being hospitals.
April 2020. About 5 days out from the conclusion of the extended spring break, it was announced that the rest of the school year will be conducted online via zoom. I was in favor of this because I got to be home and do my own thing, but little did I know the harsh boredom that will come with this.
School closed until next year. Online school for the rest of the school year.
Day after day...
Week after week. The endless cycle of school and then video games was getting quite repetitive and boring which would have come as a surprise to me before the pandemic. But, this will happen with everything you do.
I was disappointed with my mother's answer, even though it was out of her control. I did not let this inconvenience prevent me from getting into fitness.
His name is Alex Eubank. And he is the one who sparked my Fitness journey and interest. Still to this day, I look up to him in terms of my fitness goals.
Thats sick! I wanna look like that.
Seeing that one tik tok during the Covid-19 pandemic. Sparked a whole new lifestyle for myself and totally changed my life. I would make great use of the time I had in lockdown to better myself physically and mentally.
Later that day, I asked my mom if I could buy a gym membership, with my own money of course. I couldn't see a reason she would say no since there are only benefits.
Normally James, I would say yes. If you haven't notice, we are in a global pandemic and pretty much every is closed down, sorry.
Hey, can I get a gym membership? There's nothing to do and I'm so bored everyday after school.
ff
The next morning, I took my exceptional research talents to the internet and tik tok to figure out how to workout at home with minimal equipment.
Needless to say for the rest of the time that gyms were closed in New York, I became a pullup, pushup, crunch, and situp enthusiast. Which was much more beneficial than playing video games all day after school.
After a day of working out, I felt better and more refreshed when I woke up.
I also had better focus and energized when I was participating in online school. Overall, working out greatly helped my mental state and got me through quarantine.
Like anyone else, I struggled during the Covid- 19 revolution with isolation and all. However, I tried to make the most of the time I had and I found a long-term passion...
I can't wait to workout again
Fast forward two and a half years...
That I am still working towards and striving for goals in. Starting Getting into Fitness during the Covid revolution truly gave me a gift. Something I cannot live without today and something I will love for the rest of my life.
Working out and lifting weights continues to benefit my daily performance physically on the field.
Moral of the story... Find something you LOVE thats creates benefits to your everyday life.
