- Odysseus fell asleep in the grass after a long journey on the ocean. As the goddess Athena watched over him she thought that she should go to the house of Alcinous and disguise herself so she can help Odysseus to get back to Ithica.
- With the plane Athena made, she went to the house of Alcinous and disguised herself as Alcinous' daughter Nausicaa's best friend and told her that she should be married soon and that she shouldn't leave laundry lying everywhere. This caused Nausicaa ponder the thought.
- The next morning Nausicaa asked her father to have the mules ready because she was gonna take her clothes to wash. When she took her clothes to wash she was throwing a ball at her maid and the maid missed catching the ball so the ball went into the river. They started crying and it awakened Odysseus. So he crept covering himself with leaves towards them and scared them. But then he politely asked them for directions to the city.#160;
