  • The King of Denmark, King Hamlet has died, leaving the throne to his brother, Claudius., who then marries King Hamlet's widow, Queen Gertrude.The late King Hamlet's son, Prince Hamlet, is saddened by his father's death as well as his mother's quick comeback with his uncle.

  • The watchmen of the castle and the scholar Horatio soon discover a ghost haunting around the castle, which closely resembles the deceased King Hamlet. When they bring Prince Hamlet to the ghost, the ghost declares itself to be the King's spirit, and confesses that Claudius murdered him. The ghost asks for revenge through Prince Hamlet for Claudius's murder and for guilt to overtake the betrayal of Gertrude.

  • Prince Hamlet plans to avenge his father's wrongful death, but in its pursuit, plays a role of madness and hysteria. Queen Gertrude and King Claudius are concerned with his behavior and aim to figure out its cause. They ask his friends Rosencratz and Guildenstern to watch him, while the Lord Chamberlain Polonius believes that Hamlet is mad out of love for his daughter Ophelia. No one can seem to determine what's wrong with Hamlet.

  • A group of actors come to Elsinore and Prince Hamlet decides to check Claudius's guilt by having them perform a play similar to the late King's murder. At the scene of the murder, Cladius jumps up and leaves the room, confirming his guilt. Hamlet then prepares to kill him, but finds him praying and postpones his plan. Claudius, now worried, plans to get rid of Hamlet. (Scenes shown above, numbered 1-4)

  • The actors arrive to Elsinore, and Hamlet directs them.

  • Hamlet goes to confront his mother about everything but hears a noise. Polonius had hidden himself there, but Hamlet assumes that it's Claudius and immediately kills him. Claudius immediately sends Hamlet off to England and plans to have him killed there. Ophelia drowns herself due to madness after her father's death. Laertes returns to Denmark with anger regarding both deaths. (scenes shown above, 1-4)

  • Claudius uses Polonius's death as a leeway to banish Hamlet, and he sends him to England with Rosencratz and Guildenstern.

  • Claudius strategically decides to do away with Hamlet by using Laertes, who he persuades that Hamlet is the cause of his father and sister's deaths. He organizes a duel between the two, and poisons Laertes's blade so that the hits will be fatal. However, as a backup, he poisons a drink for Hamlet to drink if he is victorious. In the midst of the duel, the blades switch around and both duelers are infected with the poison. The Queen ends up drinking the fatal drink, and Hamlet finally kills Claudius. Thus ends the tragedy, with Horatio telling everyone about Hamlet's story.
