- Melanie sat in her booth, ignoring the teaching machiene. She daydreamed about flamingos all day long, She imagined they were called firebirds. She dreamed of seeing them one day at a Natural Park.
- Falling action
- THe next day she went ouside. She had to put on her smog mask and eye protecter. As she put the goggles on it went snap!(onomonopia) She had wondered when she would be able to go to the Natural park. Her parents half promised that they would take her during there Christmas vacation. Her dad had thought that it wouldnt be goof for a child to see what a small world of trees and animals and grass lookied like if she could not live there. Her father had finally agreed.
- Resolution
- When the wonderful day had arrived she could not belive it. She was in a helicopter on her way to the park. When she had got there she couldnt find any flamingos! She had seen all types of bird just not flamingos. Melanie went around the park to the other side of the lake to see if she could find any flmaingos there. She wasnt listenting to anything her dad was saying she was determind to find one. Suddenly she stopped. A flamingo! she exclaimed. She slowly approched the flamingo and tapped it. It fell over and floated in the water. She tapped it again and it was as stiff as metal (metaphor). Melanie began to cry.
- Theme/Conflict
- My soceeity being bad doesnt stop me from going to places. Even though the flamingo was plastic It was still a good exspeirence.
- The caretaker had said to her father, When the last flamingo died, we thoguht people ought to see what they look like . So we put that fake one at the edge of the lake. It fools most visitors if they dont come to clost to it. Melanie , come out ! her father ordered. The caretaker had explained how they used to be beautiful and how its a shame that the water in the lake became poisoned. The flamingos had need more land to survive aswell.
- Melanie stopped crying. She heard exactly what the caretaker was saying to her dad. She had picked the firebird up and had carefully put it back to a standing position. She whispered, Goodbye
