- Jason's uncle Pelias took the throne of Lolcus from Jason.

- Pelias sent Jason on a mission to gather the golden fleece from the land of Colchis, ruled by Aeetes. In return Pelias would give the throne back to Jason. So, Jason and the Arogonauts set sail for Colchis on the Argo.
- The gods were on Jason's side and wanted to assist in him getting his throne back so, they made Medea, Aeete's daughter fall in love with Jason. Because of her love, she set spells to assist Jason in completing the almost impossible tasks leading up to getting the golden fleece.
- Jason successfully completes all the dangerous tasks and retrieves the golden fleece with the help of Medea's spells. Medea then kills her own brother to distract her father so that she and Jason can escape with the fleece.
- Jason and Medea make it back to Lolcus with the fleece but, Pelias does not give the throne to Jason as promised. So, Medea tricks Pelias' daughters into killing Pelias. This outraged the people of Lolcus so, Jason and Medea were exiled.
- Jason and Medea move to Corinth after being exiled from Lolcus and start a family. But, Jason leaves Medea for the princess of Corinth. Angered, Medea starts her revenge.
