  • 1799-1815: Revolution ends
  • On July 14th, 1789, an angry mob stormed Bastille, a military fortress and prison, marking the start of the French Revolution. Soon the delegates of the Third Estate took over the "National Assembly" and began making revolutionary transformations.
  • The National Assembly made huge improvements in women's rights and manhood suffrage, but people were beginning to argue over the revolution's proper goals. Louis XVI was executed and radicals purged the nation of its internal enemies. Napoleon Bonaparte, a general, was brought to power by a coup.
  • Napoleon was determined to extend his empire and the French influence. However, in 1812, when he invaded Russia, his forces were too outstretched and undersupplied to survive the harsh winter. His principles soon became too forced and European nations united against him. After defeating him, they agreed to work together in preventing future revolutions and war.
  • There's nothing left for us!
  • Well what now?
