Actus Reus + Mens Rea Assignment Wilful Blindness

This is a comic showing actus reus and mens rea in the form of willful blindness. The actus reus is poisoning an animal by feeding a dog a dangerous amount of chocolate that can lead to death. They also placed the chocolate in such a position that is out of view and can be easily consumed by the dog. There is also mens rea as they were aware that chocolate is poisonous to dogs but chooses to feed the dog nonetheless. They would be charged under Section 445(1) of the Criminal Code for poisoning a dog that is kept for a lawful purpose and placing poison in such a position that it may easily be consumed by a dog that is kept for a lawful purpose. They could be charged again if they have fed other animals that can't eat chocolate.
