- The two couples, Katherine and Petruchio and Bianca and Lucentio come back to the town square and everyone is teasing Petruchio about marrying a shrew. Petruchio decides to prove them wrong and decides to have a contest to see who has the most obedient wife. Everyone laughs, expecting Bianca to win.
- Everyone was surprised that it was actually Katherine who was the only wife to come when called by the husbands. Katherine won the contest and proved to be the most obedient wife. At Petruchio's command, Katherine calls on all the other wives and gives a speech about being submissive and obediant.
