  • But are you sure Benedick loves Beatrice so entirely?
  • So says the prince!
  • Benedick, love on I will requite thee taming my wild heart to thy loving hand if thou dost love my kindness shall incite thee to bind our loves up in a holy band!
  • How if he will not stand?
  • You are to beat any man who stand on the Prince's knee.
  • Well then take no note of him but let him go.
  • If he will not stand when he is bidden, he is none of the Prince's subjects.
  • Not honestly, my lord, but so covertly that no dishonesty shall appear in me. I think I told your lordship how a year since how much I am in the favour of Margaret, the waiting gentlewoman to Hero.
  • I can, at any unseasonable instant of the night get her to look out at her lady's chamber window.'
  • I am sick in this pleasure to him and whatsoever comes upward, his affection ranges evenly with mine. How canst thou cross this marriage?
  • I remember
  • Hero and her maid are continuing the trick of making Benedick and Beatrice believe the other loves them. Beatrice is delighted at what she hears.
  • The lady is disloyal. If you love her now, tomorrow, wed her, but it would be better fit, your honour, to change your mind.
  • Ahh!
  • Hero! Hero!
  • Some police officers are discussing the rules of their work nearby.
  • No!
  • You come hither, my Lord, to marry this lady.
  • No. She knows the heat of a luxurious bed. Not to be married, not to knit my soul to an approved wanton. As a brother to his sister, showed bashful sincerity and comely love. You are more intemperate in your blood than Venus.
  • You are no maiden. Myself, my brother and this greeted count did see her at that hour last night with a ruffian at her chamber window who confesses the vile encounters they have had a thousand times in secret.
  • Don John has heard the news that Claudio and Hero are due to be married next Monday. He doesn't much like Claudio and is determined to find a way to screw things up for him. His sidekick, Borachio, develops a cunning plan.
  • Do not live Hero! Why ever was thou lovely in my eyes!
  • Let for a while, be secretly kept in, and publish it, that she is dead indeed. She dying shall be pitied.
  • Sir, Sir! Be patient! I am so in wonder I know not what to say!
  • Don John leads Don Pedro and Claudio outside to where the ladies chamber window is in view. The men are influenced by the shouts of Borachio to believe it is Hero in the window, when it is actually Margaret.
  • There is an outburst at the wedding as each of the men reveal what they have seen. Hero is thrown vigorously to her knees as Claudio heaves her with all his might. She screams and becomes faint as Beatrice rushes to help her.
  • As if I'd ever otherwise to you!
  • As Don Pedro, Leonato's closest friend, has obliviously backed up what Claudio is saying, it becomes clear to Leonato that the men are telling the truth, even though Hero is being wrongly accused. The priest, however, insists that her father does not need to jump to conclusions and comes up with a good plan to resolve the issue.
  • On my soul, my cousin is belied!
