- So, the school year is over and there's no more need for substitute teachers. Looks like Im gonna get laid off. This is what happens when the demand for labor drops over the summer.
- Government: This is what we call seasonal unemployment, it happens when people who work in seasonal jobs become unemployed as demand for labor decreases. In his case, the demand for substitute teachers decreased due to summer break, leaving him without a job. Here, the government may be able to help but it is unlikely.

- Government: The pandemic caused structural unemployment for workers like Anna in the travel industry, as the market shifted to digital. Meanwhile, Ava and other restaurant workers faced cyclical unemployment due to reduced demand during the recession. We provide economic stimulus and extended unemployment benefits to support them until recovery.
- I lost my job at the restaurant during the recession. With fewer people eating out, they don’t need as many workers. I’m just waiting for business to pick up again.
- I lost my job during the pandemic. Tourism's gone digital, and now my skills are outdated. I need to retrain to keep up.
