- Mackenzie King finds herself feeling stressed and cut off from "real life". She wants a way to get her mind off work and rebuild or make new relationships.
- She uses an online discussion forum or social media service, like Facebook, Meetup, etc., to discover social hobbies to meet people and make connections.

- After browsing the different social hobby groups, she decides to join the recurring "Painting in the Park" event where people gather to paint outside.
- Mackenzie goes to the social hobby group and connects with other artists of all skill levels.
- Not only does she make new friends who share her passion for art, but also she makes something that she can take home and take pride in.
- When Mackenzie goes home, she feels better and more socially supported. The social hobby was a great distraction from the stresses of her work and a great way to meet new people. And on top of all of that, she has something to show for her efforts and time: a new painting that she can hang on her wall.
