In order to deal with Germany's sudden occupation of Czechoslovakia, allied powers France,Britain,and italy gathered with Germany to discuss a appeasement plan. Appeasement is the foreigh policy of pacifying an aggressive country through negotiation to prevent war. Germany claimed that the Sudeten land was made up of a majority of ethnic Germans and therefore belongs to Germany. The allied powers agreed to hand over the boarderlands of Czechoslovakia through the 1938 Munich agreement, and made Germany sign a plea of peace as one of the conditions. The Czechs however didnt have a say in this matter and were forced by Britain and France.

In 1934 Germany entered a non-agression pact with Poland. This was one of the first policy Hitler put in place after coming into power. Hitler entered this agreement as a way to oppose a possible French-Poland military alliance against Germany, while they were still building up their arms. The next year, France and Britain unknowingly helped Germany reach its goals by reducing the limitations on military set in place by the treaty of Versailles, remilitarized the Rhineland in 1936, and annexed Austria in 1938.

In 1939, Germany initiated a non-aggression pact with the Soviet Union. This was a pact of convivence and mutral benefit between opposing countries. However the pact wasnt just a non-agression pact, in secret Germany and the Soviet Union planned to invade Poland from different boarders and it was to be divided amongst them. Germany invaded Poland on September 1st 1939, this triggered the involvement of France and Britain as they were allies of Poland and were to come to its aid if invaded. they officailly declared war on Germany, and then later The Soviet Union invaded, starting WW2.
