- British Parliament decides to tax the colonists, using the Tea Act.

- The colonists form a protest, because they pay taxes but are not allowed to vote on things that affect their lives.

- Angry colonists take out their frustrations on the British soldiers. Snowballs are thrown at the soldiers. A soldier fires into the crowd and 5 colonists are killed, including a Black man Crispus Attacks.

- Colonists bought tea from the black market which was much cheaper than the taxed tea from East India Company. Tea was smuggled into the colonies to meet demands.

- The Sons of Liberty, disguised as Mohawks, board British ships, chop the barrels of tea on board and then toss them overboard. This cost the British almost 1,000,000 dollars in today's money.
