  • Jane Austen was born in Stventon, United Kingdon, on 1775. She was the second youngest offspring (out of eight) of reverend George Austen and Cassandra Austen. During her early years, her family provided her and her sister with an excellent education for the era, nurturing her interest and talent on writing, which she took advantage of to produce many poems and novels; reportedly having an early version of Sense and Sensibility (titled Marianne and Elinor) in 1796; finishing a draft of Pride and Prejudice in 1799, and finishing Susan, her first novel, in 1803, though it was published time later because of legal disputes. From the start of the 1800's up to her untimely death, her life was marked by romantic turmoil, as her first boyfriend was sent away from her by the former’s family, and she rejected her only proposal of marriage; but her life was also marked by literary success, as her works, such as Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Mansfield Park, and many others, became works of critical acclaim and public praise. Unfortunately, he met and untimely demise at the age of 41, pressumably from a compromised inmmune system and a lymphoma; leaving the world without the conclusion of her last work, Sandition, but with an unforgettable and unvaluable legacy of literary greatness.
