- Am american man and a girl named Jig waited in a train station un the northern Spain near the Ebro River. They are waiting for a train to madrid. As they order two beers and the girl gazes at a line of distants hills.
- Climax
- Jig thinks the hills look like white elefants. The man quickly replies that he hasn't ever seen once. Their is tencion as they discuss an operation the man is trying to put Jig at ease about having.
- Falling Action
- ;the couple were talking about ordering beer while waiting for their train. The conversation turns to the hills on the side of the station, and the girl explains the hills look like “White Elephants”.
- Resolution
- Jig says she will go through the operation. she seems to just make him happy, but the man doesn't want her to do it for him.
- the girl and man have calmed down a little bit but are still tense and upset. The man says that he is okay with the girl having the baby but he actually is not.
- The train arrives in 5 minutes, som the man takes the bags to the other tracks. He has a drink at the bar and comes back to Jig. She smiles at him and when he asks if she feels better, she tells him there's nothing wrong with her; she fells fine.
