Siužetinės Linijos Tekstas

  • Nor slumber nor a roof against the rain;
  •  she is saying the emotion love alone is not a place to rest nor shelter to keep safe in, a heart can not be a home.
  • Love is not some cure all, it can not heal physical pain or close open wounds, Love is not some hero to those in a hospital, not a doctor or nurse.
  • Nor clean blood, nor set the fractured bone.
  • Alliteration is used with repetition of the word "Nor" having said it over and over again to further drive the point across of what love is not, it's a sound repeated many times over.
  • It may well be. I do not think I would.
  • The turn of this sonnet by Edna St. Vincent Millay comes to a turn on the 8th line, before this turn the sonnet is painful in its expression of everything love cannot do without daring to speak out of how love can provide these things a home, aid, shelter, survival, if the heart is willing to put in the work. But after line 8 the sonnet speaks that even in desperation no one wants to give up love but in some cases love must be sacrificed for one's own life and that is the most painful part of love if it is not cherished, for the sonnet writer was afraid to make that sacrifice and did not think they could do it.
  • I might be driven to sell your love for peace,
  • To give up on love or your own love for another in sacrifice for peace in your own life, nobody really wishes to do this unless that love yields nothing but pain.
  • The writer is not capable of sacrificing the love they have for relief, be it food or peace, they do not believe they have the strength to make that choice.
