  • They each have different physical characteristics and are unique in appearance. This is called genetic variation which refer to differences between individuals or to differences between populations.
  • All modern dogs are descendants of wolves because thousands of years ago, humans domesticated wolves which means that they adapted animals for human use. Many of them look nothing like wolves and vary in shape and size. This is because of artificial selection.

  • Artificial selection is the process of by which humans use animal breeding to selectively develop desired characteristics. Breeders use artificial selection for desired characteristics for animals and plants.
