Iago is angry at Othello for promoting Cassio over him. He swears to get revenge on them both by making Othello think that Othello's new wife, Desdemona, is cheating on him with Cassio.
Act 4
Iago tricks Cassio into getting drunk and starting a fight, which results in him being demoted. Iago tells Cassio that he'll be sure to get his position back if he asks Desdemona for help.
Act 5
Iago convinces Othello that Desdemona is cheating on him with Cassio by saying Cassio has the handkerchief. Othello swears that in three days, they'll both be dead.
The End
Iago tricks Cassio into bragging about his relationship with Bianca. Meanwhile, Othello, who is hiding in the background, sees Cassio with Desdemona's handkerchief and swears revenge.
Othello smothers Desdemona before learning the truth and taking his own life.
In the end, five characters have died because of Iago's villainy: Othello, Desdemona, Emilia, Roderigo, and Brabantio.
