  • the battle of Lexington and Concord is where the first shots of the Revolutionary war were fired, it was known as "the shot heard round the world.
  • the declaration of independence was adopted by the continental congress on July 4th 1776. the declaration summarized the colonists motivations for seeking independence, and they got the french to help them fight great Britain. the declaration of independence excluded women, African Americans and Native Americans.
