After escaping, Moses and the group make it to Mt Sinai. They notice that there is a frightening cloud striking lightning and roaring thunder indicating God's presence. No one is brave enough besides Moses

Moses agrees to talk to the people in hopes to start a covenant . In the agreement the people obey the rules and build a specific sanctuary that God can stay in. In return, God will be their leader and they can spread the word of God to the rest of the world
I shall give the people the idea of your covenant and spread the word of God together

Moses comes down from Mt. Sinai and gives the people the terms of the covenant and they agree. Moses goes to retrieve the blueprints

MOSES SHALL NOT ENTER
God being rightfully infuriated at Israel, tries to destroy them but Moses reminds him of his covenant with Abraham and spares the people. The covenant is still on and he's back to re-building the tabernacle except he's doing it by himself.
LEAVE ME ALONE, So they may be destroyed
Remember your covenant to Abraham
While Moses goes to get the blueprints for the tabernacle, Israel questions the idea of God and what he is trying to do and breaks commandment one and two which is to only worship God and there is no God's before him, treating the gold cow as a God, breaking their covenant
