Hi, im Rocky and i am showing you how the rock cycle works.
I first start out as a liquid called lava or magma. The magma forms us under the crust of the Earth in the mantle. Then the volcano erupts and on the earths surface when the lava cools we solidify and start to crystallize, which means the minerals are growing in within the lava. I am now called a Igneous rock
Us rocks break down by the process we call weathering. When water wind and glaciers carry us from one place to another. Then we are turned into small pieces called sediments Today we ended up on a beach. Another word for us breaking apart is deposition.
The third stage of the rock cycle is when we turn into a sedimentary rock. The very first step that we have to complete to turn into a sedimentary rock is compaction. Compaction is when sediments are buried far into the ground which then it applies so much pressure because of the weight of the layers on top of it and it packs all of the extra grains together.
To turn into a sedimentary rock we also have to go through cementation.. Cementation is when dissolved minerals become deposited in spaces between the sediments of the rock. This takes up to millions of years.
