- One fact that makes me feel proud is the Battle of Junín that was foughton August 6, 1824, in the pampas near Lake Junín, in the central Peruvianmountain range.
- The patriot side commanded Simón Bolívar "Liberator" and General José deCanterac led the forces of the Spanish crown.
- Amongthe patriots were soldiers from Colombia, Argentina, Peru and Chile. Among themthe Hussars of Peru, led by the Argentine Isidoro Suárez, and the Hussars ofColombia, led by the Venezuelan José Laurencio Silva.
- It was when Bolívar took advantage of the fact that his enemies weredivided to undertake the attack while the Spanish army defended themselves,soon the Venezuelan llaneros responded with their lances.
- Laterin the evening, finally the general of Canterac, seeing himself defeated insuch a difficult plain, withdrew, the battle did not last more than an hour, sothat the victory went to the patriots.
- Thistriumph and the Battle of Ayacucho on December 9, 1824, where Antonio José deSucre would face the Spanish Army for the last time, would finally consolidatethe independence of South America.
