I can't believe my best friend Tim is dead Annie. Where do you think he is now?
I can't believe my best friend Tim is gone, Annie. Do you think he's okay wherever he is?
I'm sorry about Tim, Scott. Remember in Philosophy when we read about Socrates and Epicurus and their views on death?
Socrates believed in a state of nothingness, or a heavenly afterlife for the righteous.
Epicurus didn't believe in an afterlife. He believed we are bodies and nothing more. I don't buy it.
I like Socrates view. A state of nothingness or dream-like state sounds peaceful! What do you believe in?
Reincarnation. The idea we come back as something or someone else is really reassuring. There's no reason to fear death then.
Interesting outlook, Scott. Do you have any ideas what Tim could have come back as?
Tim loved dogs. I bet he would come back as mans best friend.
That sounds like a good fit. It's getting dark I better go. Let me know if you need anything, Scott. I'm here for you.
The next day...
Tim? Is that you?!
