What happens after death?

Scott loses his best friend but has some different ideas then our known philosophers about what exactly happens when we die.

- I can't believe my best friend Tim is dead Annie. Where do you think he is now?
- I can't believe my best friend Tim is gone, Annie. Do you think he's okay wherever he is?
- I'm sorry about Tim, Scott. Remember in Philosophy when we read about Socrates and Epicurus and their views on death?
- Socrates believed in a state of nothingness, or a heavenly afterlife for the righteous.
- Epicurus didn't believe in an afterlife. He believed we are bodies and nothing more. I don't buy it.
- I like Socrates view. A state of nothingness or dream-like state sounds peaceful! What do you believe in?
- Reincarnation. The idea we come back as something or someone else is really reassuring. There's no reason to fear death then.
- Interesting outlook, Scott. Do you have any ideas what Tim could have come back as?
- Tim loved dogs. I bet he would come back as mans best friend.
- That sounds like a good fit. It's getting dark I better go. Let me know if you need anything, Scott. I'm here for you.
