"Hello, my name is Richard King I am the guy who bought, and owned the King Ranch. It is the largest ranch in the world today at 825,000 acres!"
Mifflin said, " sure I would like to go with you to South Texas.''
I said, "Mifflin, would you like to move to South Texas with me and start a steam boat business?''
I was know as a very hard worker and I started work in the steamboat business when I was younger.
I then moved to South Texas and started a steamboat business with my life long friend Mifflin Kennedy . I set up ports, and moved goods and people along the lower end of the Rio Grande.
It had very good nutrition for livestock and wild life so me and my partner GidIon Lewis, went in together and bought 15,500 acres of Mexican land grants these was the first section of what is now known as the King Ranch
Me and my men went to Corpus Christie, to a place known as the wild horse desert and we were amazed by it.
I asked Gidion, "Would you like to partner with me and buy some Mexican Land Grants?"
Gidion said, "Sure Richard, I would love to partner with you on the land grants."
I married my wife Henrietta in the 1860s which was a busy time for me with kids and the ranch. Henrietta helped run the ranch when I was doing my Steam Boating Business.
Henrietta replied, "Yes, I can run things here while you are away. Please don't worry about a thing."
I asked Henrietta, " Can you please run things on the ranch while I am away on business?"
I passed away on April 14, 1885 and my family kept the ranch going even though I was gone. They start breeding and raising more cattle on the ranch..
Now the ranch has about 35,000 head of cattle, and 200 head of horses on it. They raise champion race thoroughbreds , and ranch horses, champion quarter horses. The ranch is now the largest ranch in the world at 825,000 acres.
